Did you know Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote The Little Prince here in New York City during World War II?

ImageThe Morgan Library has an exhibition with the original manuscript and illustrations, as well as rare printed editions and personal letters, photographs, and artifacts of de Saint-Exupéry’s.

ImageI first saw (rather than read) The Little Prince in high school, during a double period music class when our teacher was trying to kill some time. I thought it was so weird, but it’s stuck with me ever since.

ImageThe drawings are so special, and the story unforgettable, don’t you think? A dear friend of mine has several of the illustrations and pages of text framed in her apartment, and I think it’s such a genius addition to her living room.

Do you have any books-as-art in your home?
